The significance of the lyrics are resounding today as they were when I first heard them back in the 70's for we have evolved from being colored, to negro, from negro to black, and now African American.  Through this evolution I've seen our community unravel bit by bit. 


I'll make my points chronologically; the 60's we were angry, "We shall overcome"; the 70's Black Power, the panthers, Power to the People; the 80's drugs & driveby's hiphop was born; 90's we became mainstream Def Comedy Jam, Tupac & Biggie died Neo-Soul was born; 20's we still angry and dissatisfied.  Our community has lost an important characteristic that we held prior to intergration.

Once upon a time we stood for something we actually believed in a cause and community fought for the right to vote people died for that to happen.  Fought for equal rights to co-exist in America as a human being and not as second class citizens.  So many of our younger generation has no concept of what it was like to live through a period where a dominant race ruled over how you even looked at them.  A black boy, or man could lose their life just looking or admiring a white woman and she could lure and conjole that man but he would be in danger if caught even entertaining the thought.  States like the commonwealth of Virginia prosecuted you if you married inter-racially.  Jobs were Driver, BusBoy, Dishwasher, Cook, Maid, Babysitter and Yardman.  If you could sing and dance you might be able to make it out in Hollywood or On or Off Broadway.  Sports weren't integrated until mid-60's fully so Negro leagues were formed prior to that that aren't even discussed among many of the great sports files.  Baseball gave us Jackie Robinson, Boxing gave us Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sonny Liston, and Cassius Clay aka Muhammad Ali.  We evolved musically from Billie Holiday, Ella, and Dinah Washington ladies who made a name for themselves but have you ever heard of Ruth Brown?  

Motown paved the way for moguls like Russell Simmons & PDiddy to be able to make movies and videos and money, Rasin in the Sun portrayed a Negro family who wanted to buy in an all white neighborhood when in reality it happened and white flight was the reaction.  We have to separate the accomplishments from our failures over the years and recognize how we have changed toward one another since integration and equal rights were granted to us.  We are no longer concerned until a teen is killed or somebody makes a racial remark we get offended.  But not enough to get involved and contribute our time and consciousness to continuing onward in the battle for equality.

We as a people deserve reparations for all of the suffering endured by our ancestors but not in terms of money but land, establishing a foundation to lift us up out of the hovel we been in since the civil rights act was signed.  Vietnam was convienent and so was Regans Iran Contra because it saturated urban areas with drugs enought to stigmatize and paralyze our community.  Kept us in the pits of hell and if you didn't get caught up on the drugs then you got caught up on credit.  We have become the biggest consumers on earth spending billions on entertainment, food & services, and clothing and other durable goods far above what many of us can afford.  Teenage pregancies are normal and acceptable behavior across all cultures black, white, and hispanic.  Communities use to bond sure there were always beefs and bullies but and the end of the day we knew how to treat each other with self dignity and respect it meant something.

Let me end with this, 
  When we didn't have nothing we had wealth a rich culture who knew how to demonstrate self worth and valued one another;  stood together through bombs and lynchings, fed each other when one was down everyone chipped in to pull that brother or sister up by giving rent parties and selling dinners. All of us have skeletons hidden away but we have lost the connection of togetherness we don't hold each other accountable anymore.  Our children get rewarded for doing what they're supposed to do and still reflect a don't careish attitude and anger which proves that it isn't changing the situation either buying them lables & cars giving them mobile phones before they even get into middle school.  

  America will never own up to her role in destroying the African people who were enslaved and brought here mistreated, raped, killed, and traded.  Broken families we still haven't healed fully nobody seems to get that except for a few historians of the culture.  Our leaders who stood out in front were all cut down in their prime. Brother Malcom spoke of these things although nobody was listening then he predicted this would happen to our people if we integrated instead of giving us the resources needed to educate and teach the Urban and Southern communities about running and owning a business.  Establishing a financial institution to give us equal footing before equal rights.  We took door number two what you see today is the result of settling for less than what we deserved.  I look at the Jewish community whose people suffered and are suffering in some nations still under the hands of hatred and oppression they were given a fresh start and protection to rebuild as a people and still fighting to exist.  But that's not what we see here in America what has happened to our Black community can't be blamed on any one thing or one person.  We are held accountable should know better.  Men use to marry you if you had sex and got pregnant now it's passe' too many single women raising babies alone at an alarming rate.  Sons & daughters repeating the cycle generation after generation.  It's time to get involved do community service become more civic minded or don't get mad when someone gets shot or called the "N" word or profiled.  Why you ask shouldn't I get mad, my answer is because you don't put in nothing you get nothing out.  We are becoming extinct it's a major gap now between the rich and the poor.  The majority of our community lands on the poor side of the scale and only 1/4  of us are wealthy the 3/4 living way beyond their means on plastic credit cards.  Filing bankruptcy.  I could go on and on.  But bottom line is this when you pointing that forefinger four more are pointing back at you.  "Look in the mirror what do you see somebody pretending not to be me"

EYES WIDE SHUT *BUTT NAKED TRUTH* - featuring WINDOW SEAT VIDEO ERYKAH BADU




Actually, I loved the video. She accomplished two things in my view; 1. She brought a message home to all of us how we can look directly at the truth and be in so much denial nobody noticed. 2. She probably sold over a million copies just from the release of her video. Brilliant!!! Spike Lee would always put a subliminal message in all his movies "MESSAGE" remember the Stop sign.



But truth is we don't always want to face the Naked Truth so we allow people like Rush Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Sarah Palin send out battle cries throughout the nation for all white folks to deem our President as an anti-christ. Hold Gun rallies near the nation's capitol where they can walk around carrying guns with live ammonition. We laugh at it; dismiss it but if the same forces can band together to assassinate JFK, MLKJ, RFK, Malcolm X and blame it all on crazy lone assassins. WAKE UP DAMNIT, it's time for us to put a stop to this in 'Our Nation." They are at it again the same type of words during the period of civil rights, and hatred all focused on south and Midwest poorer class of white people who they manipulate because of their ignorance about other places around the country they believe lies. We also are guilty of listening to second hand information seek out the truth and stand for something or we'll fall again for same ole thing.


We are asleep it's time for all of us to pay attention to what's really going on here. Erykah did the right thing, she walked down Dealy Plaza stripping along the way not one person paid her any attention one guy ran to pick up a piece of clothing if you noticed the rest of them acted as if they saw nothing. Isn't that how we normally respond to everything. Turn away act as if and then it'll blow over or somebody will do something.. It's time to organize, get emails out to Congress to shut down this TEA PARTY and the folks who are inciting people to committ crimes then show up at the funeral blaming it all on crazy.


It's premediated and on the airwaves all day long, lets put a stop to this nonsense it's not 1960's anymore. We've got educated, wealthy, independent and well spoken. What will it take another National tragedy of one of our leaders before we wake up!

"Our love is usually conditional and based upon how other people behave toward us. 

This kind of love is based upon familiarity and direct interaction. The Greek word "phileo" defines this kind of love, often translated "brotherly love." Phileo is a soulish (connected through our emotions) kind of love - something that can be experienced by both believers and non-believers. This is in contrast to Agape, which is love extended through the spirit. Agape love requires a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, since the non-regenerated soul is unable to love unconditionally. Agape love gives and sacrifices expecting nothing back in return.

'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD. "(Leviticus 19:18)

I'm writing this because of the climate of things in our country 
America the Beautiful
 to express my hurt as a Woman of Color

Hesitant to identify myself as African American because I'm not from Africa I've never been there!

My ancestors fought in all wars to defend this great nation.
So I'm just a Black American citizen, with a mixture of cultures running through my veins.

We take much for granted as a race - the Human RACE
Yes we might come in different shades and speak [culturally] with different tongues,

but
we are all charged with the same commandment ->you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am the LORD. "(Leviticus 19:18)!

Now this applies across the board

Well, all of this is considered
I'm your next door neighbor, a co-worker, stranger sitting next to you on a subway train or bus.  I might be out dancing with you at the club.

Why can't love your neighbor as yourself?

So my point
We all share the same air, eat, sleep, and duffocate.

This entire earth belongs to GOD,
and the fullness thereof
no man has territorial rights here in America or in any other foreign land.

We gotta stop the wars and find way
to heal UNITE.

When you witness all the natural disasters in this world around the globe.
Each time people die from North, South, East and West!

The climate is changing, and rapidly it's not a hoax.

People suffering alot due to austerity cuts and a greedy financial "global" economy only the wealthiest can survive.

Fluctuating 401k mutal funds, gas, food prices - We all endure yet feel that pain..

Social unrest around the globe is for the same root cause as we struggle with here domestically...
Racism, Bigotry, religious bias with a total disregard for others
Monetary problems stagnic wages or no wages, while the middle class and poor around the globe are reacting in anger and protest because
 nobody is getting a pass no matter
what class, culture or religion.

 ALL of US are guilty no man is free from Sin.

Our race is dying everyday.

Let me close with this

When will we understand we all must give a little ourselves
stop coveting material or tangible things.  Plainly spoken a desire to have what you can't afford.

Stay in your lane and I'll stay in mine.

Fellowship with each other
spend time learning about the plight of another individual
stop chasing after and coveting material things.

Once you stop and realize...
you might be surprised how we are more alike than different!
Get to know someone that's not like you of a different creed, race, or religion who doesn't pray like you do,
without prejudging them 

Open your hearts and Minds
 and 
believe that they are just as intelligent
knowing right from wrong, a decent human being
our ultimate goal is to unconditionally.

Love your neighbor as yourself

Terrorists Killed 2,000 People in Nigeria Last Week. So Why Doesn’t the World Care?

The past week has been one of horror for France. After a three-day rampage in which terrorists killed 17 people both at the Charlie Hebdo offices and at a Jewish kosher supermarket, one fugitive still remains at large. An estimated 3.7 million French citizens took to the streets of Paris in a solidarity march as the attack and its aftermath continues to dominate international headlines. 

But thousands of miles away, another crisis went largely ignored. Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria committed a massacre of unbelievable proportions in Borno State. Over the period of a few days, the terrorist group killed more than 2,000 people in the town of Baga, as well as 16 neighboring towns and villages, burning entire communities to the ground. Amnesty International described it as the terror group's "deadliest massacre" to date, and the Guardian reports that local defense groups said they gave up counting the bodies left lying on the streets.

By every objective measure, Boko Haram's vicious massacre in Nigeria dwarfs the tragedy in France, so far that the Nigeria bloodshed has been described as one of the worst terrorist attacks in modern history. There's only one problem: In all likelihood, you probably didn't hear about it until just now.

Where is the international outcry for these non-Western and predominantly Muslim victims of terrorism? The terrorist attacks in Borno State and Paris unfolded over the same time frame, but the story in France generated more than 50 times more news stories worldwide.

This silence is not accidental. There is a clear double standard when talking about Western vs. non-Western and Muslim vs. non-Muslim victims of terrorism. Terrorists attacks on the West, and against non-Muslims in particular, are sensationalized in the media while those afflicting non-Westerners and Muslims are normalized and treated as business as usual, generating limited public interest and, in turn, limited outcry from activists and institutions that could actually affect change.

This discrepancy in coverage raises important questions about the way the media talks about terrorism — and whether the Western news outlets that so fiercely dissected the brutal Charle Hebdo massacre will ever see non-Western and Muslim victims of terrorism as "mournable." And the result is telling: Reports about non-Western victims of terrorism are generally overlooked or ignored unless they fit particular narrative of freedom and civilization under assault from Islamic extremism.

Is the attention on Charlie Hebdo really about the assault on free speech? Not necessarily. One day after the 10 white journalists were tragically murdered at Charlie Hebdo and became martyrs for "free speech," two Tunisian journalists, Sofiene Chourabi and Nadhir Ktari, were beheaded by Islamic State militants in Libya and received almost no coverage for their sacrifice. 

Additionally, the Committee to Protect Journalists found that more than half of the journalists killed in 2014 were Muslim, even though the international media dialogue of the past year focused almost exclusively on the Islamic State's beheadings of white Americans James Foley and Steven Sotloff, as well as the deaths of other white journalists like Camille Lepage

"More than half of 61 journalists killed in 2014 were Muslims, many working in conflict-affected countries such as Iraq, Syria, Pakistan and Somalia," writes Rafia Zakaria for Al Jazeera America. "But few have received the recognition or commemoration accorded to Western journalists or a handful who worked for Western media outlets."If this were solely a question of who is fighting to defend "free speech," then international media would be honoring the sacrifices of the scores more non-Western and Muslim journalists who have died in the line of duty. 

Why it matters. Reports about non-Western victims of terrorism are typically restricted unless they can serve a particular agenda, and we saw that again this past week with the media's ominous silence around Boko Haram's massacre of thousands of victims in Borno State. There are no neat narratives surrounding this "Islamic war on women," and no Westerners were killed. It was simply terrorist violence on an unprecedented scale perpetrated against Nigerians, many of whom were Muslim.

We are still not sure of the full scale of the violence in Baga and neighboring towns just yet, but what we do know is staggering. Baga, a town of 10,000, is now "virtually non-existent" according to Musa Alhaji Bukar, a senior government official from the region. Hundreds of corpses are rotting and litter the streets. Entire towns and villages have been burnt down, and thousands of people have had to flee into Lake Chadwhere they face hunger, dehydration and attacks from wild animals while they await rescue on unstable sand bars. This is one of the worst terrorist attacks in history, and Boko Haram followed up on it by makinga 10-year-old girl blow herself up in a market in Maiduguri this Saturday, killing at least 10 more people.

Suffering for Doing Good - 1 Peter 3 8-17

I often pay attention and listen when I"m hearing a sermon or during my moment of meditation - prayer, and praise. It often happens around dawn or just before..

But moving forward I’m trying to get a clear word or sense of direction from the LORD so I’m cautious still when it pertains to whose feeding my soul. Discernment of the Spirit becomes more complex if you’re wounded. I find it hard to be vulnerable these days so prayer is important and listening to the Word of GOD becomes more prevalent to me no one else seems to be able to make sense of what has happened to me these past few months. While still seeking job opportunities and other major challenges unemployed more obstacles that would have devastated most who are accustomed to having some of the finer things.. Even if you stop and ponder about how I’ve been able to maintain communicate via Internet That’s simply GOD+AGAPE his Grace and Mercy. Nothing I’ve done haven’t gotten any help not soliciting either just sharing nobody is paying me to write. I’m not selling anything to anybody this is right where you can stop reading… The way GOD moves is a mystery just like soon as you think you know guess what time to go back to school again..

You have to be where I’m sitting to understand what I’m about to drop on you now. People can only do what they are able and have to accept when GOD’ places it on their heart to serve HIM to reach out to others that don't always make sense to those in your circle. But only to the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit…. Truth is hard to accept for many of us hard reality about ourselves but love is as Infinite as the Omnipotent it has dimensions like looking into a tri- mirrors seeing your reflection on all sides. Well, for you lay people think of it like good sex what’s next, like Joy and Pain, Agony & Ecstasy it parallels itself. Then to come through the storm and struggle with the same feelings you originally had for the person who might have hurt or harmed you with a good attitude, well not too many can claim that type of forgiveness, tolerance and love in this world.

For to see how GOD gives us plenty to meet our daily needs in spite of what we give back to HIM and each other. When we limit our ability to give either through guilt or complaining it becomes a wasted effort because it’s conditional – if it makes me feel good then I’ll reflect a giving spirit. If I give you this then you must repay me double! Some of us even say to GOD give me double for my trouble...Your expectations are of human instinct that we can’t overcome unless we actually enter into a relationship to commune with GOD, (notice I said WE as me too and I refer to GOD as but one person, one place, one thing), to rely on for counsel. Fellowship is mandatory to survive in a community helping each other achieve mutual goals, lending a helping hand up instead of a handout. Taking it to the LORD in prayer is one thing but allowing Him to teach us, guide, and direct us learning to Sacrifice something in order to really grow. Because no one can mess with what GOD has blessed even you - then HE'll convict your conscious (soul) to let go release - give up the things that would jeopardize you often times to stifle our growth but instant gratification in any form makes us feel good…but the effects can cause pain or discomfort. You know what I’m saying those things or person(s) that hurt you sometimes maybe all the time! Just start right there ask youself honestly. He will not do this until We become willing but GOD loves us so unconditionally the WORD spoke that He will never foresake or leave His sheep and it is impossible for GOD to lie!

Have you loved anything or anyone enough to let them go for a greater good that has nothing to do with how it left you feeling? Have you tried trusting GOD do you believe that He does love you in all ways exactly for who you are, and thus far has guided you into the place where you are in life right now?

What have I sacrificed lately, to experience true Joy because to let go of anything or someone we love causes much pain which often leaves us feeling vulnerable and therein is when Faith comes. Faith comes by hearing the word and believing in those things that are unseen (a plan, dream, vision), which will manifest (by doing the footwork), then it becomes reality.. speak Boldy! If you can conceive it believe it, then recieve this..........enjoy this one.

GOD gave us everyone of us FREE WILL and with that comes a responsibility that man has never fully been able to understand it’s powerful.
Free Will in itself allows you to speak into being what you call blessed or curse those that you call cursed the old saying is what comes around goes around simply put it's "KARMA";The tongue is the smallest member of the body but carries so much power and gives weight if you think I’m lying look at what just happened to America. Inspired by the words of one Man to do better become greater started a movement the result still has some people trying to figure out what just happened.

He was free to believe being President could happen, trusted GOD, and he walked humbly from the process into the promise.

GOD is living and believe what I’m saying this is getting edited for personal reasons what has been revealed in my life is due process. People make the mistake of putting GOD on their level and minimize his Omnipresence but HE is far greater than we all can imagine and nothing, no thing or no Man has ever really been able to understand or explain fully we believers just trust HIS WORD for me it's the Bible. Sometimes GOD does takes us into a strange place in order to elevate us even while we are bruised and hurting not just to get our attention but to move us out of the way to do something more significant to serve his purpose not our own foolish sense of want and needs. Then there are times family the closest loved ones not just your enemies enjoy observing while others are in pain, naked, and bleeding; but GOD knows no boundaries when it comes to divine healing. He'll use your situation to teach you and others HIS way is the only way! What HE has put in me is enough to survive anything even mankind and our limited ability to truly love on one another without conditions. Now, That's so priceless

HE is greater in me than he that is of this World....Then once you've walked through the fire as did Shad rock Me shac and Abendigo(sp) everybody wants some of that; what did you do; how did you do and blessings bestowed many upon you. For with that level of Ecstasy arrives Victory then comes the Agony of winning… Everybody wants some of you. So you see Love defined shows up in three dimensions. Human form, Soul’s realm, and Spirit realm. You need to be able to accept and embrace humbly all three. Study the Word; hear the word, and listen to the word of GOD no matter where you are in your walk in His Grace. He loves you exactly where you are at, and one last thing what GOD has called blessed in your life is meant for you so enjoy it;always give Him Glory because everything comes from El Elyon (the most high God); Adonai (our master). So when he moves you to give or serve your brother/sister remember how Cain messed up when he was faced with that question; his response “Am I my brothers keeper”…. my response to Cain woulda been, "Yes I AM." because He lives in ALL of us remember that GOD is always with you AGAPE.
